Chi-Chi, a rare African sand dog, is a seven-time winner of the World’s Ugliest Dog Contest at the Sonoma-Marin Fair in Petaluma, California, USA. The wins came in 1978, 1982-84, 1986-87 and 1991. The family tradition continued with ChiChi’s grandson, Rascal, who took the title in 2002.

A donkey named Suzy reached 54 years old in 2002. She was owned by Beth Augusta Menczer and lived in Glenwood, New Mexico, USA.

A wild rabbit named Flopsy was caught on 6 Aug 1964 and died 18 years 10 months 3 weeks later at the home of L B Walker of Longford in Tasmania, Australia.


Born on 1 Jun 1997, Sebastian the bearded dragon was aged 18 years 237 days as of 24 Jan 2016, when he passed away. His owner, Lee-Anne Burgess of Middlesex, UK, brought Sebastian home on Christmas Eve in 1997. The life expectancy for a bearded dragon in captivity is usually 7-14 years, although in the wild they are more likely to live for 5-8 years.

Link Asset Management Ltd (HKG) assembled 270 canine participants and their owners for a yoga class on 17 Jan 2016 in Stanley Plaza, Hong Kong, China. Part of the Paws by the Sea event, the proceeds of which went to the Hong Kong Guide Dogs Association, the class was overseen by “doga” (dog yoga) instructor Suzette Ackermann (HKG).

On 28 Sep 2014, at the same venue, Link Asset Management Ltd set a new record for the most dogs balancing a treat on their nose. A total of 109 animals proved their canine dexterity.
