Peepholes – Security Watch fix-it tips and tricks
Peepholes allow you to see who’s outside before you make yourself
vulnerable by opening the door. When choosing a peephole, ensure that
it will fit your door’s depth, and opt for the higher-quality glass peepholes
(with at least a 180-degree field of vision), rather than plastic peepholes.
To install, drill a hole in the center of the door at about eye level. Drilling
halfway into the door from both the inside and the outside will create a
neater edge than if you drill all the way through it from one side. Be sure
to keep the drill level.
Take the peephole apart by unscrewing the lens from the base. The
lens half goes into the hole from the exterior side of the door; the base
goes in from the interior. Screw the two halves back together.
